I have arranged Sergei Rachmaninoff’s beautiful song "The Answer" (Op. 21, No. 4) for solo piano, aiming to capture the emotional depth and lyrical quality of the original composition. "The Answer" is part of Rachmaninoff’s Twelve Romances, Op. 21, a collection that showcases his extraordinary gift for melody and expression. Originally composed for voice and piano, "The Answer" is a poignant piece that conveys a deep sense of longing and introspection, typical of Rachmaninoff’s style.
In my arrangement for solo piano, I have endeavored to translate the vocal line into a rich, expressive piano texture while preserving the song’s delicate nuances. The challenge was to maintain the integrity of Rachmaninoff’s original while adapting it to the capabilities of the piano.
