Introduction to Your Second Piano Book
Welcome to Piano Fingers – Book Two, where there is more to discover and learn as the musical journey continues.
This book builds directly on the foundations established in Piano Fingers – Book One.
The very first piece begins exactly where the previous book left off, allowing students to move forward with confidence and familiarity at the piano.
New notes are introduced in both hands, and students begin to move their hands away from the starting position: middle C. This encourages greater awareness of the keyboard while continuing to develop good hand position, finger control, and note-reading skills.
Musical understanding is further expanded through the introduction of new symbols and ideas. Students learn the sharp sign, flat sign, and natural sign, as well as the time signature of 2/4. New rhythmic ideas are introduced, including quavers, quaver rests, the repeat sign, and the pause sign. The use of the right pedal is also introduced, adding colour and expression to the music.
As in Book One, the music is presented in a friendly and accessible way.
Some of the pieces are supported with accompaniment, and illustrations complement the music and titles, supporting imagination and enjoyment while learning.
Piano Fingers – Book Two is part of a carefully designed series of four books. Although the series does not follow a formal grading system, it continues to guide students step by step, building strong foundations and encouraging progress at the piano.
